CPR Instructor

This is a 2-part course.  Valid AHA CPR card required to qualify for the Instructor course.

Part 1, the online course must be completed prior to the scheduled instructor course. It is included with your payment and a code will be emailed to you separately following your registration.

The course  is based on an adult learning model where participants view a scenario, compare teaching principles, and determine which skills need to be enhanced to make training effective.

Through 20 modules, the course teaches these five general competencies identified by the International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction:

  • Professional Foundations
  • Planning and Preparation
  • Instructional Methods and Strategies
  • Assessment and Evaluation
  • Management

The course also includes two modules from the American Heart Association:

  • Remediation
  • Cultural Sensitivity

Part 2 of this process is the in-classroom discipline course based on American Heart Association curriculum and is scheduled with our staff.  Both parts must be completed.

  • The BLS Instructor Essentials Online is the self-guided, online portion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Blended Learning Course.

  • The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is designed to prepare Instructor Candidates to teach American Heart Association Instructor-led and Blended Learning BLS Provider courses.

  • It educates Instructor Candidates on how to use Heart Association Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow Heart Association Instructor and course policies. This course includes a Core module information about instructing Heart Association BLS Provider courses, followed by course-specific information.
